We at castlewood joinery are a forwarding thinking and environmentally aware company. Because of our policy to ensure we do what we can to protect against any further damage to the ozone layer and help prevent global warming we have installed the very latest machinery to turn our waste in to wood burning briquettes.
We have taken the lead ahead of most of our major competitors to ensure we prove a full management of materials which is sourcing timber from FSC and PEFC grown forests right through to preventing the disposal of waste being sent to land fill sites.
What materials do we use?
Castlewood Joinery's waste management means we can now turn our timber waste such as shavings and sawdust in to a valuable heat source.
Wood extrusion (or the production of "briquettes") is the joining together of chips of wood and/or sawdust by the use of pressure and heat utilising the natural resins in the wood. Either soft or hard woods can be used.
We ensure all the waste used is from environmentally friendly sources.
We are currently in negation with other companies to process their waste to help them become more environmentally friendly with our main objective to reduce our carbon footprint and ensure a future for our planet and all of our children.
The Process
The waste material is removed from our extraction systems and placed in a large hopper, which is then fed automatically through a processing centre which involves the material being compacted at a pressure in excess of 150 PSI which forms the briquettes without any additional adhesives or binding materials being added.
The compacted material is then fed through a large cylindrical tube where the briquettes are cut in to random sizes before being packaged in to handy 10Kg bags.
Uses
The final compacted briquette is a must to keep you warm on those cold days and night. Use on an open fire, wood burner or any fire in your home. What could be better than curling up in front of a radiant fire with a glass of wine knowing you are helping to keep our planet safe.
When the warmer nights arrive and you are entertaining with friends and a barbeque is a must, you can use our briquettes to burn on your chiminea which produce a lot of heat with little smoke to keep your guests warm and your party alive long in to the night.
